Abstract:
The energy and exergy efficiencies afforded
with cogen and district energy systems is enabled within
stand alone multi-story buildings. These well established
principles also apply to the generation of heated potable
water using at point of use substations aka heat transfer
units aka "heat interface units." There are several benefits
derived from this approach including improvements in water
hygiene, reduced labour and materials and improved safety.
This presentation introduces the concepts of
exergy efficiency and decarbonisation afforded by the use of
decentralized domestic water heating solutions.
